Question
I have a male about 1 1/2-2 years old, Sable and a female that is about 1 year, Shadow. Neither are fixed yet they are in the same cage. They love being close to one another but I came home from work the other day and went to check on them. I noticed that there was fur missing from the top of Shadow's nose and what appeared to be 3 little bite marks. She also has a small spot right under her right eye and on her right ear. The two smaller spots are just missing fur, no evident bite marks. Is my male biting her? What should I do??? I'm a first time owner, and I'm very worried. Please contact me soon. Thank you.

Answer
Hi Heather

First if neither are fixed yet you need to separate them or you are going to end up with unwanted babies.  I imagine the fur missing is from a scuffle.  As long as there are no open wounds the hair should grow back.

You need to separate them immediately.  You also need to prepare for a pregnancy.  Once you get them fixed then you can re-bond them and I will be happy to help you.  If you don't have cages then just make sure that they are in separate rooms.

Good luck and I hope this helps.
