Going away

Hi
Will my 7 month rabbit be okay if I have pellets filled in his bowl and unlimited timothy hay in cage for 2 days.  I am going away and I may not be able to get someone until the 2nd day.  She usually eats greens 2 times a day but I cant get anyone to give them to her.  SO I thought I would fill up her bowl with pellets so It can last and give her a lot of hay in the cage
What do you think I will be away 2 full days

Hi Jen,

well I would not say this is the best arrangement.

Your rabbit will eat all the pellets first.  Hopefully the hay will still be fresh smelling to her to eat for two days.  Hay loses its appeal after 24 hours, but she will eat it if she is hungry enough.  She probably will not eat as much of it as if you would be giving her fresh hay like you normally do.

Water is more important.  I would make sure her bottle is full, and maybe hang a second bottle just in case.  

If you give her hay cubes, you can put one of those in her cage as well to nibble on.

It is always possible that you will not be home in two days due to the unexpected.

She probably will be fine, but I would expect her to snub you or be upset at you for leaving her like this for awhile. Not your fault, but they do express loneliness and anxiety that way.
