Question
We have had a female rabbit "thumpers" for almost 7yrs. she has been in perfect health up until about 2 weeks ago. Thumpers has now had 2 seizures that we know of. Thumpers is a indoor rabbit occasionally we put them outside in their cage on the back porch to enjoy freash air, about 2 mths. ago my son put them out...it was to hot Thumpers suffered from heat exhaustion... I took her to a Veternirary clinic... she seemed to recover fine... because of her age we didnt have any invasive testing that could cause futher trama. Not sure what to do... we dont have the money to take her back at this time... but dont want her to suffer. Any advice would be greatful. Thank you Patty

Answer
Dear Patty,

If Thumpers has been inside in the air conditioning since her heat exhaustion crisis, then that's a good first step to ensuring her continued recovery.  But if she had severe heat stroke, there is the possibility of some residual damage.

When you say "seizures", please describe exactly what you are seeing.  Please give me all the possible details about her ancillary health signs:

How is her appetite?
Fecal output?
How much is she drinking?
How much is she urinating?
Is she acting normally other than when having the "seizure"?

The more information you give me, the better.  But of course the very best action to take would be get her back to the vet immediately, since in-person diagnosis is always going to be much better than anything anyone can tell you over the internet without seeing the bunny.  You can find an experienced rabbit vet (and for this, I'd strongly recommend it) here:

Hope this helps.
