is it ok to leave a lot of hay in my rabbits cage?

Question
I have two mini rex. I would like to know if it is ok to leave lots of hay in their cages because i worry about them eating too much. If you can help me with this, thank you.

Answer
Dear Darrell,

As long as the hay is *grass* hay (e.g., timothy, oat, wheat, brome, coastal, orchard grass, etc.), and not alfalfa, they can have all they want.  They simply can't eat too much of it.

Be sure to change it frequently, and keep it very clean and dry.  Moldy, wet hay can be very dangerous to rabbits!

I hope this helps.
