Question
when I bought my two dwarf rabbits back in Jan. I was told they were both males- so imagine my surprise tonight finding 5! very small babies! We moved the mom and babies into a new inside cage (with as much of the fur packed around them as we could) and checked to make sure all the babies were living- now what???????

Answer
Hi Kelly,

make sure the mom/baby cage is the largest one, that gives mom some breathing room.  She will only go over to the kits once or twice a day to nurse (you may not see this).  Also you will need to get both mom and dad spayed and neutered by a good rabbit vet.  Go to:

www.rabbit.org/vets/vets.html

and find a House Rabbit Society-recommended vet in your area.

You will also need to separate the boy and girl rabbits between 9-10 weeks.  They will need to be fixed as well to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Instead of rewriting already good articles, I will point you to the House Rabbit Society pages:

http://www.rabbit.org/care/babies.html

http://www.rabbit.org/journal/2-7/bringing-baby-home.html

Not all apply exactly to your situation but they do contain some good info that may help you.
