How long do rabbits usually live?

Indoor house rabbits can live well over 10 years.  I think 10 years is about the average.  I know people that have had house rabbits that have lived to be 13+.  

Outdoor rabbits have a shorter life span.  The average is only a few years.  They don't get the exercise they need and they often fall prey to predators.

Wild rabbits don't live more than 2 years, but usually it is more like one.  85% of the wild rabbit population dies each year.  This is one reason why they can produce babies once per month.  It ensures the survival of their species.
