Feces stuck to hindquarters

Question
Our bunny has feces clumped to her hindquarters and hates to be picked up.  Any suggestions on the easiest way to get it off and how we can hold her so she doesn't get hurt while we're doing it?  She really stinks!!!

Answer
Dear Jacquie,

Your bunny is suffering from cecal dysbiosis, which can be caused by any of several things.  You can read about the causes, diagnosis and treatment of this problem here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

and in the meantime, you can keep her clean with a safe dry bath, explained here:

I hope this helps. Please write back if you have any other questions.
