Coughing bunny

Question
My 8 month old lionhead has started yesterday a cough which sometimes sounds like a sneeze. It occurs approximately once every thirty minutes or less, sometimes more, and all his other signs seem good. He is eating relatively well, although I did in the past couple weeks notice a decrease in his eating of the hay (I have not monitored his eating of the pellets) but there is no discharge from nose or eyes.  Does he need a vet?   I am using a paper based litter and am possibly not cleaning his litterbox out as often as it needs (once or twice a week).
Thank you.

Sarah

Answer
Dear Sarah,

The combination of coughing and reduction in hay eating raises BIG red flags (especially in a Lionhead) that your bunny may be having molar spur problems.  Please read:

and find a good, experienced rabbit vet here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

who can check the molars and file any problematic points.  If this is really sneezing, then please read:

Hope this helps get you on the road to his recovery.
