Question
i am having trouble sexing my 7 1/2 old bunnies.  they are netherland dwarf/mini rex mixes and absolutely darling. we want to find good homes but do want to know if you recommend keeping one of the females with momma. my daughter and i would LOVE to keep all 5 but know that is not the best for them. let me know what you think.

Answer
hello rhonda

congrats on your healthy litter. it is easiest at about 8 weeks to tell the sex of your bunnies. Have a look at some pictures on the internet to help you and double check with your vet to make sure you have it correct.

i think that your mum rabbit would love to have one of her baby girls with her for some company, however i would not put the male rabbit (if neatered or not) back in with them as they may now not get along as well as before.

i dont see why you cant keep all the bunnies, when you know the sexes of the bunnies, seperate the boys from the girls and keep the girls with mum and boys in a different cage. Your will have to make sure that the cages are big enough as rabbits need loads of space.

When my rabbit had a litter of 6 i kept them all, i couldnt give them away they were so cute, there were 4 girls and 2 boys, i got a large double cage for the girls as there were 5 in there in all. and the two boys live happly together.

one thing to think about though is the vacinations rabbits need to have, which are myxmotosis and VHD, they can be pricey.

If you do decide to sell them make sure that you find the best possible family because it has been known that some people buy bunnies that are quite cheap and feed them to there other animals such as snakes :-( :-(

hope this helps
good luck
