Question
Grapes are known to cause kidney failure in dogs, is this also true with rabbits? My lop-ear loves an occasional grape but I wasn't sure about the safety. Thank you!

Answer
Hi Lisa,

as far as I am aware, I have not heard that grapes cause such a problem with rabbits.

I do know that they are something you probably don't want to give a lot of, or too often, as they are a more acidic type of fruit, and sometimes a more acidic fruit can cause problems in the gi tracts of rabbits.  Generally you need to steer clear of harsh acidic fruits (oranges, citrus ,etc).

If it's occasional, and he isn't having any current gi tract issues, it should be okay.
