Question
i was recently given a rabbit by my neighbour, she assured me it is female. the rabbit now after a few quiet days, seams obsessed with feet..and follows, chases and circles them at any sign of movement. theres no biting or mounting. is this normal.? could it be a male?

Answer
Circling behavior is normal in rabbits.  It can be either sex.  It is how they show that they love you.

There is an easy way to tell if your bunny is a male.  If it is full grown all you need to do is flip it over and if it is a male you you almost always see the testicles.  Occasionally they won't protrude but it is rare, unless of course it is neutered.  You can also check the vent area.  By pushing slightly on the vent if it is a male there will be a protruding penis.  A female will have a slit with no protrusion.

If the bunny seems overly aggressive you may want to have it fixed.  This is the best way to calm down sexual behavior.  Mounting is natural and even fixed rabbits will do this with their bonded mates.  It is how they show dominance.

Good luck with your new friend.
