Question
Is it alright to burn incense around rabbits? I have 2 young rabbits that I just got recently, and I've stopped burning my incense out of fear that it might make them unhealthy, or poison them. I wanted to know if this is harmful to them or not.

Answer
Hi,

here's my gut feel for it.

If you don't have to, I would not do it around them.  I'd use another room and an air freshener afterwards.  You never know if their sinuses will be irritated by it or not, and I guess I wouldn't even subject them to it if it wasn't something 100% necessary.  I have no idea what you're burning but rabbits as a whole don't go out of their way to breathe in the fumes of burning things.  they have very, very small lungs compared to us, and actually they are a little undersized for animals their own size, I wouldn't want to do anything that makes their lungs work harder.

Plus, their sense of smell is about 20 times better than ours, so consider they may really not like the smell of the incense a lot more than you like it.  they may also react to you differently if later on you come to them with it on your clothes and hands.  They may have a harder time recognizign who you are by smell (much like they might a smoker).
