Question
I know you've answered another question on mites and revolution for rabbits, but how do you confirm whether or not your rabbit is infected with an ear mite or fur mite?

also is revolution the best solution other than a shot? and if so where could it be found?

Answer
Dear J,

Positive ID of a mite can be made under the microscope by your vet, but the signs of each type of infestation are different.  Fur mites generally cause a flaky dandruff that isn't usually itchy.  Ear mites usually cause nasty crusts in the ears that develop into bloody sores if not treated, and they are both painful and itchy.

Revolution really has given us much better results than injectable ivermectin.  You can get it at most veterinary offices with a vet's prescription/permission.

Hope that helps.
