Question
hi, my dwarf lop was mated with another dwarf lop and has just produced her second litter. the 1st litter of 4 were all healthy and thrived. she has just had 2 this time and I'm concerned about the smaller one. it is so much smaller then the other. the large one weighs 14.9oz and the small one only weighs approx oz. both are active and have eyes open wide! they are now 18days but it just doesn't seem to be growing. is it smaller then average or is it the big one that is larger then average?!!! the small one doesn't look deformed in any way just very small. it also seems to have a protruding naval which i have never seen before?
hope you can help
many thanks

Answer
Since they are dwarfs there is always the possiblity of one being just oversized- the larger one of course. The other is probably a true dwarf which is more of the size breeders and people showing are looking for. Both seem to be healthy the way you are describing. I wouldn't worry too much. Once they get a little older i would separate the bigger one out- at weaning age, and give the little one a longer time with mom.
