Rabbit stool?

Question
We just got a baby bunny rabbit. I think it is a male. He is white with brownish gray speckles. I'm not sure what kind of rabbit he is but I know his mother wasn't very big. Today I was holding him and I thought he had urinated on me but when I picked him up there was a clear clumpy gel substance there. Some had a light fecal matter in it. The rest was clear. Can you tell me what this is and if it is normal? I would greatly appreciate it.

Answer
That would not be normal.  If he has stuff coming out that is clear, and he is a very young rabbit, it's likely he is developing mucoid enteritis, which kills baby rabbits very quickly.

If you are feeding him anything other than hay and pellets, stop, and get him to a vet on Monday.

You can read about this in this article about baby rabbit at http://www.rabbit.org/care/babies.html

The treatment is antibiotics that will clear up the problem, and feeding him hay and pellets only til he is at least 3 months old.
