Breeding Mini Lops

Question
Me and my friend have a girl and boy mini lop and we bred them because we wanted baby bunnies.  It's been two weeks and I want to know an accurate way to check if the female is pregnant?

My other question is my bunny (male) doesn't have a very good personality and doesn't act like he likes me. Is there anything I can do to improve his personality?  He is 1 year old by the way.

Answer
Lops are difficult to breed.  It can be hard to get the doe bred and for that reason, I got rid of all of my lops.  Only experienced breeders are able to feel for the babies in the doe and it is difficult to explain how.  In about a week put a box in her cage and offer her a bunch of straw, if she is bred she will start to make a nest.  Nature will take care of the rest.  There are many books out that you can get at the library on raising rabbits, you should check into some of those because they have information that I can't give you in an email.

I am disappointed to hear that you bred just because you wanted babies.  Breeding is a big responsibility and it sounds as though you have not started off well.  Why would you choose to breed anything that has a bad personality?  This is a trait that can be passed down to his offspring and you will be stuck with more rabbits that are mean. The purpose for breeding should be to produce good quality stock that can be used for shows or for pets.  Mean rabbits don't make good show rabbits nor do they make good pets.  Responsible breeders always strive for the best in their breed and breed only the pairs that they feel will produce the best litters.  Breeding just for babies, is not a responsible decision.
