papaya tablets

Question
hi
we have recently adopted our first rabbit two weeks ago. she is a total joy. i was told she's a 3lb. spayed 3yr. old dwarf-angora mix. her previous owner was feeding 5 papaya tablets a day to help with hair digestion. do you think she needs this many tabs a day? and if i started feeding her pellets with papaya in them should i stop giving her the tabs? i was thinking of changing her pellets from "oxbow" brand to "docs rabbit enhancer". i read that "docs" has papaya and something else in it to aide in smelly urine...
we are also wondering why she sometimes nips at us. she will come over to us and want us to pet her, then she will nip at us... any idea as to how to stop this, or is this just "bunny behavior" to be expected? funny thing, she has NEVER nipped at our dog who is always sniffing her... at first she was biting us, now it's just a little nip.
thanks for your help :)

Answer
Hi Kelley,
maybe you should ring up your local vet and ask them if you should be giving her 5 tabs a day cause it does seem alot to give.
She may nip for you for a while cause she just needs to learn how to trust and bond with you thats all.Every time you go to stroke her dont just put in your hand and stroke her cause that wont help.
When you open the cage door just speak to her in a soft voice and just gently put in your hand near her mouth, and she might just gently smell your hand.Does this everytime you go to her hutch caue this will get her use to your voice and your scent.
Then when she is nice and calm, then you can begin to stroke her but keep talking to her in a soft voice. Then when she nice and relaxed,if you want you can gently pick her up.
Do this stage every day and you will create a great bond with her.
I hope this helps and good luck from Natasha.
