Question
Hi, I bought two rabbits just before christmas. I was told they were both males two people sexed them as males!.
3oth December 2009 i found a litter of babies she had 5 but one died so it left me with 4. I took the dad out as soon as i found them and we bought him his own hutch. The babies are 5 weeks old this wednesday.
I went into the hutch yesturday (29th januray) found another lot of babies 5 again but one has passed away so now there is 4. The father must have been at the mother as soon as she had finished giving birth to the first lot and got her pregnant straight away.
The older litter and the new litter are living together with their mum in a hutch. The older ones keep standing on the new ones and uncovering them in the nest.
I have found one of the babies out of the nest a couple of times so i have put it back in. I havent touched it with my hand i had a piece of tissue paper overing it so i wouldnt leave my scent on it. I didnt know if thats the correct thing to do? i also put some more hay over them to keep them warm and to protct them a little for the other ones standing on them.
The older ones seem very healthy they are eating solids but i havent seen them drinking from the water bottle yet.(they are 5 weeks old this wednesday.)
My questions for you are this:- Is it ok to let the older babies live with the newer babies?
Is it possible to move the older ones out yet?
Can a rabbit get pregnant straight after giving birth?
The male has been no where near her since i took him out.
Are the babies going to be harmed buy the older ones standing on them?
Is there anything i can do to ease the problem or help them in anyway?
I look forward to hearing from you thankyou for your time Sarah.

Answer
hi sarah-
heres my answers for you
its ok for them to be together but keep a ggod watch on the younger nes.
you can move the older ones out at 6 weeks.
she could get pregnant soon after giving birth
just keep a good eye on them -at 5 weeks the older ones should be feeding themselves so i would chance it and move them out.
