Rabbit litter

Question
Hi Dana,

I'm from India. Rabbit litter is not commonly available here so I would like to get your opinion on using Cat's Best organic cat litter for my bunny as this is the only organic litter available here. They have three types:

http://www.jrs.de/cgi-bin/wPermission.cgi?file=/Catsbest_englisch/produkte/catsb...

http://www.jrs.de/cgi-bin/wPermission.cgi?file=/Catsbest_englisch/produkte/catsb...

Please let me know if you'd suggest using any of the above litters for my bunny. Besides this, I can only find softwood shavings here which I'm told would be harmful to my bunny.

Mine's a part-Angora bunny so he's very furry. I prefer using timothy hay as litter but unfortunately, even that's unavailable here. My bunny's nearly 6 years old and has never been much of a hay eater even though I import it for him from time to time.

Thank you for your help.

Answer
Dear Keerthi,

Of the three listed here, I think this is the only one I would use:

Clumping litters can be dangerous, as they are often highly desiccated and can cause problems if ingested.  Since the clumping litters are made of plant material and are fragrant, the bunny might be tempted to eat them.  So I'd stick with the non-clumping type.  I have never used this brand, but it looks the most similar to what we use here, made from wood sawdust.

I hope it does the trick for you.  :)

Dana
