Rabbit Urine.

Question
My dwarf rabbit's urine is a cloudy yellow color when it is wet and when it dries sometimes there is milky white-ness  in it.  I don't know it it has to do with it staining on newpaper or the paper bags i use for lining in the bottom of the cage, but it worries me sometimes. There has been no change in diet and no change in behavior. It has been like this for about a month. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Kelly

Rabbits urine is very strange.  It comes in all different colors and can be anywhere from clear yellow to milky to dark red.  It is from the pigmentation factors in the kidney's and each rabbit is different.  Unless your bunny looks like it is straining to pee or is hunching over I wouldn't worry to much about it.

It is always important to take your rabbit in for a yearly check-up at a rabbit savvy veterinarian.  When you do take her in they should check everything including kidney function.  This should give you peace of mind.  If your bunny hasn't had her yearly check-up then its time to find a good doctor and have her checked out.

Good luck
