Hi Dana,
My female had 8 babes this a.m. all fine for now I went in to check on things and all had died we think our cat got in there as bad as it is on us I dont know how to handle mom we left them in there for her to see so that she wouldnt keep looking for them but she is staying right where she had them how long should I allow her to stay and what should we do to help her? this is her 2nd time and we kept the 2 that survived (this will be her last) I want to help her please inform me! my buns have a vet but they are closed and when I called the ER vet they acted like I was stupid ans said she would get over it but they sent my male home without anything when he has GI Distress so I dont trust them. Thank you so very much

Dear Cindy,

Once she has had a chance to visit with the babies and know they are gone, the best you can do is give her TONS of love and companionship.  Have the male neutered ASAP, and have her spayed so that the two of them can live as a bonded pair and support each other emotionally.

She will recover.  It is actually harder on a rabbit to lose an *adult* mate than it is to lose a litter.  She will be fine with your love and care.
