Bobbing rabbit

Question
My daughter just called me and said that my rabbit is swaying her head back and forth and that her eyes are twitching. She was out in her hutch yesterday and my son moved her into our swamp cooled barn to stay cool and today this is happening. She will nibble on lettuce if you put it in front of her but she acts like she has brain damage. What could be the cause and is there anything that i can do for her. I am out of town until Monday but my kids did send me a video of her behavior. They insist she had water and didn't get to hot but we do live in Norco. Any suggestions would be great. I was thinking an ear infection but the eyes have me puzzled.

Answer
Dear Kathy,

It could be heat stroke.  It could be the onset of an ear infection. But in either case, the bunny needs to be seen and treated by a good rabbit veterinarian ASAP.  Please find one here:

www.rabbit.org/vets

and have someone get the bunny there without delay.

If the bunny's head starts to tilt (or even not), then please read:

www.rabbit.org/health/tilt.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/tilt.html

for more information.

I hope the bunny will be fine soon with immediate veterinary care.
