QuestionTheres this bunny that is hurt my cat attacked it my dad saved him i think hes bleeding on his leg help i love animal and i dont want him to die. :(
AnswerDear Rachell,
A rabbit that has been injured by a cat requires immediate veterinary attention if he is to survive. Cat claws and teeth are covered with deadly bacteria that can cause systemic infection unless the rabbit is given fluoroquinolone antibiotics within a few hours of the attack. Please find a good rabbit vet here:
www.rabbit.org/vets
and make sure the vet knows that the rabbit was attacked by a cat and needs either ciprofloxacin, Baytril, or zeniquin. The vet can also address the wounds. But if you can't get the bunny there right away, you can wash the wounds with dilute povidone iodine (Betadine, available at any supermarket or drug store in the medications section) on clean gauze or cottonballs.
Keep the rabbit quiet and don't try to feed him anything. Provide a bowl of water, but that's all. The very best thing you can do for him is try to contact a local wildlife rehabilitator, who might be best equipped to handle this emergency on a holiday weekend, when most vets might not be in the office. You can find the closest rehabber here:

I hope the bunny will be okay. Thank you for helping him.
