Found pet rabbit with lump on its neck

22 9:52:23

Question
I found a rabbit tonight which looks like it was dumped. She has a lump on her neck. Is this normal on certain breeds or is this cause for concern?

Answer
Dear Talitha,

If the lump is under her chin, and is soft and pliable, it may just be her dewlap.  This is a cute little "chin pillow" that some breeds have.

But if the lump is hard, then it needs to be seen by a vet, as it could be an abscess, botfly warble, or even a tumor (not common).  You can find a rabbit vet here:

who can give the bunny a good wellness exam and make sure all is well.

Thank you for rescuing this poor, abandoned girl.  She is lucky!
