head shaking and scratching

Question
My rabbit is an indoor rabbit.  She is very clean and has no contact with other animals or the outdoors.  Lately she has been scratching at her ears and shaking her head.  I have looked inside her ears and they appear to be very clean.  They aren't red or scabbed over, they look very clean and healthy.  I'm just trying to get some insite on why she is behaving this way.  Can she get earmites if she isn't outside or around other animals?  Is there any other reason for her being sensitive around her ears?
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Was she ever outdoors?  She could get ear mites and they could just be deep enough in the ear canal that you can't see them.  Or something else got stuck in there like a piece of hay, and you just can't see it.

If you know someone with an otoscope (an instrument vets use to look in animal ears) they could look to see if they can see anything deep down.

Otherwise you could assume it's mites and just treat for that to see if the issue goes away.
