Question
Hi there, My 5 year old daughter and i just got a bunny thats a floppy ear and im not quite sure his age but he is probably close to a year or so. Im new to having a bunny and im just wondering about some of there behaviour. I have giving him much time to adjust to us and slowly getting to no us. Like slowly putting my hand in the cage to pet him so i dont freak him out. Its been about 5 days now and i finally took him out without him freaking out. I put him on my bed and slowly worked my way up to sitting and petting him and he did GREAT! I held him and we cuddled etc. After my 5 year old got home from school i brought him back out for her to play with and get to no eachother but he then started to pounce at us. Anytime i put my hand near him he would do this. It kinda scared my daughter so i put him back in his cage. Anyways im just wondering what this means? He has never bit anyone but im kinda worried he may in time. How long will it take for him to adjust to us?

Answer
Dear Jaclyn,

Bunny was just being a bit defensive.  Most rabbits don't like to be held and carried, so if he thinks you're going to do that, he might react.  Please read this for tips on how to win your bunny's trust:

When bun is old enough, spay/neuter is important to keep him healthy.  You can find a good rabbit vet here:

Good luck with your new pal!
