Question
hi

i must be really dumb on this site cause i'm sure somewhere there is an answer to my question.

i bought a female rabbit at a farm show, she is a california rabbit....she is now about 4 1/2 months old....if they told me the right age...

i have had her now about a month, and suddenly she started acting oddly...i read the one answer about possibly coming into season....when is that...and how can i tell if she is expecting....

Answer
Rabbits, especially ones of the larger breeds, like the Californain usually become sexually mature at the age of 4-5 months, although it is recomended that you wait to breed them until atleast 6 months of age. It really depends on the behavior as to if it is "her time of the month".
Growling/scratching or rearing up to "box" could be a sign she wants bred. A thing to do, is check her vagina. Just like you were sexing her to see if she is a boy or a girl. If it is really red and a little swolen, then more than likeyly that is whats going on with her.
Rabbits come into season around every 14 days for a season that last 3-5 days. it is at this time that they are more suscepting of bucks, and get bred easier. But keep in mind that rabbits are the kind of animal that can get pregnant any time they are bred.
Hope this helps!
