QuestionHow soon is it safe to pick up a rabbit after spaying, I have a new rabbit, she was spayed 3 days ago and is doing extremely well, she has never been handled or been out of a hutch, I am frightened she wriggles and breaks the stitches? Paula
AnswerIt is advisable for a week or so after surgery to check her only to make sure that the area is not swollen or infected and that the stitches are still intact.
If the stitches break, you would need to take her back to have them redone.
Other than that I would keep her confined and not handle her except when necessary.
