Question
i found a baby rabbit (about the size of my fist) in my backyard this morning around 11am.. when i went back outside around 2pm the rabbit was in the same spot.. i believe it is lost from its mother.. i have seen bigger rabbits that are always under my neighbors bushes and trees.. and i wonder if maybe the baby was just seperated.. what should i do? i don't want a dog or something to get it.. can this rabbit be taken in as a house pet? if i touch it is it like a bird and the mother won't go near it again?
thanks for your help..

Answer
Hi Leah,

The rabbit cannot be taken in as a house pet. It woudl not have the temperament of a pet and may not survive long. I think the best thing for you to do is leave it there. Maybe put it in a sheltered spot. You can touch it if it will let you. The mother will not reject it if it is the size of your fist. If it seems injured or ill (you don't have to be an expert) it may need to go to a vet.

Hope this Helps
