Question
I have two rabbits

They have been fighting, so i separated them. I noticed that one of them got a bad sore on his eye. Scarring around the eye, and eye lid. He seems to be healing. I am still worried. Is there anything i can do to speed up his healing process? Pharmacy/pet store med?

Thank you so much!

Answer
A dab of antibiotic ointment can help speed the healing, otherwise just keep watch for now.  If it starts to show signs of infection you'll want to treat the area with Terramycin Opthalmic Ointment twice a day for a week (you can buy this at farm supply stores or online).  Keep the rabbits apart if possible, it's normal for rabbits to become territorial as they reach the age of maturity and will often fight sometimes to the death.  One will often become dominant and try to keep the other one away from the food and water as well, which can cause illness and weakness in a matter of days.  The sore may scar and the fur may not grow back for a little while, but it should be OK other than that.  Best wishes!
