Question
I have had a pot-bellied pig for about 2 weeks. The other day, i left the front door open and he seems to have got out. Now i don't know where he is. I called animal control , but they said they can not deal with pigs, only domestic animals. What can i do to get him back?

Answer
Contact your local humane society and follow their suggestions, probably will be the same as for finding any lost animal. Contact the local police (so they know that the pig is yours, if someone calls to turn it in) walk door to door and ask your neighbors if they've seen the pig, put posters up at stores and telephone poles, run an ad in the local paper.
Pigs are unusual, so you might also want to call the local paper and tv station.
Animal control is responsible for ANY "nuisance" animal. If people complain about the pig, eventually they will have to get involved. But, animal control officers are people too, perhaps the person you spoke to was confused, tired, or simply didn't feel like working at that moment, so I suggest calling them back and ask to speak to a supervisor if necessary. They should have at least taken your name and number to notify you if anyone else spots your pig.
Good luck
