Question
is it alright for my pot belly pig to go up and down the stairs??

Answer
If the stairs are not too steep or slippery, and piggy stays at a healthy weight, then stairs should not be a problem. Old pigs often get arthritis, which might make the stairs more difficult.

Piggy could be hurt pretty badly if he falls down the stairs, so make sure those stairs are not slick. Long hooves and extra weight will make it dangerous and difficult for him to navigate the stairs.

Ramps are better and safer for pigs than stairs. The portable plastic folding ramps made for dogs are fine. Ramps are fairly easy and inexpensive to build. Wet wood can be very slippery, so cover the walking surface with something non-slip. Non-slip grip strips and door mats are two options.
