Question
One of my five rats got bitten on her foot by a Jack Russell Terrier and it looks like he bit off the tip of 2 of her toes, and is bleeding quite a bit. I just wanted to know if she would just nurse her wound herself or if theres any particular info I should have to help her foot.

Answer
Gabbie

Apply non stop pressure (using your fingers) for at least 10 minutes if you can.  After that, cake some flour at the site of the bleeding and this should also help stop bleeding as well.  Keep an eye on the two toes for infection, but to prevent infection, keep an antibiotic ointment on it. He may lick it off but if you can get it to stay on for even 5 minutes before being licked off, this will be sufficient time to absorb and do the job.  Keep the Jack Russell far from the ratties obviously, since next time he may bite something else and the situation may be worse.  I dont trust any animals around rats. After all, they are   just animals doing what animals do so you cant really expect anything less from them.
