and how to hand tame them.
i also want to know how do i find out their age or sex

Answer
Hi, Adeel.

All parrots have the ability to speak, however, some do, some don't.  It just depends on the individual bird.  There are no guarantees.  Any bird with a hooked beak is a parrot.  Parakeet means "long tail."  Therefore, lots of birds can be called parakeets if they have a long tail.  A rosella is a parrot, but could also be known as a parakeet because it has a long tail.  Age is difficult to tell unless the bird wears a leg band that has its year of hatching on it.  If you just purchased this bird, the seller should be able to tell you how old the bird is.  Sexing rosellas can be difficult...females are usually a duller color than the males.  If you want to know for sure, you can have the bird DNA sexed.  See Avian Biotech or Zoogen on the internet for information on DNA sexing.  It isn't expensive and you can take the sample yourself at home, send it away for lab testing for about $20, and they'll tell you its sex with 100% accuracy.

Taming can be a problem because rosellas are basically shy birds.  If your bird wasn't handfed as a baby, then you will run into problems taming.  You need to build trust with your bird.  You can't do anything with your bird until it trusts you.  Taming can also be difficult depending on a bird's age...an older bird will be set in its ways whereas a young bird is still learning.  I would need to have more detailed information about your bird's behavior and personality in order to provide details about how to help tame your bird.  There's lots of information about rosellas on the internet...perhaps you can find further information on the internet about their general personalities.  You take take that information to help you tame your bird.
