Conure Beaks

Question
My Conure's Beak looks cracked. Is this a problem for him? Amd will it heal?

Answer
Beaks are like fingernails and wear down from the outside, often giving the appearance of being 'cracked'.
Make sure your companion has a mineral block and a cuttlebone in the cage, along with a concrete, cement or calcium perch (a rough perch available in pet stores).  They will usually use these things to help wear off the top layers and keep their beaks healthy and shiny, lessening the appearance of cracks.

If you notice a crack that looks more like a break or deep, going all or most of the way through the beak, then it's of more concern and the bird should see a vet quickly.  While an avian vet is strongly suggested, a regular vet with bird experience is fine (be sure they have experience!).
