How to tell if Amazon is happy?

21 16:20:31

Question
Recently our daughter moved back home with us and Cookie returned with her.  We are wondering how to tell when she is truly a happy bird or not.  She is quite doing her own thing like playing with her toys or swinging.  Then sometimes she is just whistling, singing and making pleasant noises.  She screams sometimes but it seems to be when she gets excited about us feeding her or if we are on the telephone and she "feels" left out.  Screaming I know is normal because they need to.  But, if they are quiet are they happy or are they happy when they are singing?  We just want to know because we feel sorry for Cookie right now.

Answer
We humans complicate things with our own feelings and analyzation.  Animals are much simpler, as are their needs. When an intelligent animal like this is well fed, healthy, safe, secure, loved and provided with daily challenges like wood chewing, foraging, puzzles, toys and changes (yes, changing their cages around every month or so is a good thing) - they are happy.
They show happiness with ongoing health, chatter, song and interaction.

I think you're doing a good job - and Cookie will be fine.
