Question
Hi my name is connor and I am 12 years old I have 2 cocketiels and it says on the internet that they like to chew on oak and maple and I was wondering if I am able to just go out and chip some bark off of themand put it in there cage.

Answer
Hello Connor,

You have to be careful when taking branches and bark off of the trees outside as there are bugs/pesticides out there that could be harmful to the bird. If you want to take bark off the trees, then I would suggest soaking them in vinegar to clean and disinfect them, and then bake them in the oven to make sure all the bacteria is killed by the heat.

Other great barks, that I know are safe, are ones from Apple and Willow trees, so I'd give those a try as well!!

Any more questions, feel free to ask.
