weight gain in young TAG

Question
Hi Dianna,
I was wondering if you might know at what age a Timney Grey reaches its full size/weight. Mine is now 5 months old and weighing in at 267g. Apparently, a Timney should weigh between 275-390g and I've been told that my bird has most likely   reached her adult size and weight already. Do you think that this is this correct?

Answer
Hello Gus and thank you for your post.
I am sorry that it took so long for me to answer you, but I was unsure of the answer, so I went looking for it.  Apparently your bird is full grown (from what I've been told, an African Grey is considered full grown at about a year and a half, but I could've been told wrong), and he's going to stay small.  This is not altogether a bad thing, though.  Some of the best birds are the smaller ones of their breed.

Good luck and God Bless.
Dianna

Hello again Gus.
I have found a site that can help to answer your questions (and yes, I was told wrong about how old a TAG is considered to be an adult, among other things).  Here is the link:

God Bless.
