Baby Cocktaoo

Question
Hi
I have a baby cockatoo about 3 weeks old whose mom kicked him off the nest and wasn't feeding so I rescued him/her yesterday. I'm not familiar at all of what to feed him, how much, how often, if he needs toys etc.... So far I have not found a place that sells baby cockatoo formula, I have fed him warm smashed apple, broccoli and corn with a small syringe since yesterday and he seems much better than when I first found him. I will greatly appreciate any advice you can pass on, thank you!!!!!

Answer
Hello Nur and thank you for your post.
You can get a hand feeding formula (most of the hand feeding formulas that are made for birds will work) from your local pet shop, although, there is some reason that the mother has quit taking care of the baby.
You need to take this baby into a Certified Avian or an Exotic Animal Vet for a wellness check and see if they can find out why that mother has quit taking care of this baby.

I am also including a link that explains how to hand feed the baby, along with other topics that you will find useful

Good luck and God Bless.
