Bleeding Quaker

Question
I have a one year old quaker parrot.  There have been several times where we have found blood all over his cage and a bloody wing.  We haven't been able to pinpoint exactly where the blood is coming from.  We don't have sharp objects in his cage, and he is not a feather plucker.  We trim his wings ourselves, but that has never coincided with the bleeding wing.  Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Answer
Hello! perhaps he have broken a blood feather and if so you would have to pull that feather right out.Not fun but you get used to it.It can let the bird bleed to death if the artery that goes through a still growing feather is not pulled out from the root.I suggest wraping him in a towel and carefully looking over his whole body. Some places on his body may also have a blood supply near the top os his skin and that might get bumped alot.Good luck and tell me if you find anything. take care, Christy
