not sure what 2get

hey there, i am a single mother of 2 boys and we are wanting to get a bird, we are in-between 2breeds of bird &i am not sure which one would b best suitted for us. My boys r very gentle kids when it comes to animals, they've been around small animals all of their lives &they are 5 & 7. We are between a cockatiel &a parrolet i've read about both of these breeds & i like them both &can give them the care & attention they need. I am just a little lost though, i have never had a bird around kids & am looking for a bird thats easily tamed, & not real prone 2bitting if they do i'm hoping they'll have as little damage as possible 2 my kids. Please help i am lost.

Hello Melissa.  Thank you for posting.
For your first bird, I would recommend a cockatiel.  Cockatiels are very loving, gentle birds.  They are very smart and can be tames and trained easily.  Be sure to get a bird that has been hand fed.  This way, the bird is already used to being handled by humans, and this will definitely cut down on bites.
My first cockatiel was a little bit older.  He was around 8 or 9 months old when I got him, but he had been handled quite a bit.  When I first looked at him, he actually tried to go into the hood of my coat.  He is still one of the best birds that I've ever seen and handled.  He is very gentle with me (although I live alone and he hates strangers...lol), but he does deal with children pretty well.
