Just got a new Babay parrot

Question
Hi, I just got myself a new baby parrot last eve. I was told its a male approx 2.5 mnths old, let me describe it to you: All green, fully feathered from the top, has baby fur still iunder the wings and on the throat and sack in front, can see a hint of a line at the neck. His head is fully covered in green and he has quite a beak on him!1 When ever he sees any movement he lunges to bite, but when i feed him by my hand he sits and begs happily. The moment the feeding is done he gets wary of hand movements and bites out. Also I was told to keep him in a covered box for a week longer and not to put him in the cage. Is this ok. I feed him soaked grains ( round yellow cereal) which is very common in India, where I live. The summer season is almost here and its getting hot in the days and nites. Cld you pls suggest how to handle him as I work and generally leave by 9 and am home by PM. Should I feed him twice a day or more and how old is he exactly?

Answer
Hi, Rein.  Thanks for posting!

You'll need to tell me what species of parrot you have.  I cannot determine this by your description.  If you don't know, can you send me a photo?

A bird at 2.5 months of age should not be kept in a covered box.  If this bird still has down on it's body, depending on what species of parrot this is, the bird may not be 2.5 months old.  Was this baby handfed with baby parrot handfeeding formula?  When was the bird weaned?  Does the bird fly?

I don't know how you should handle this bird because I don't know what species it is, I don't know how old it is, I need to know whether the bird was being handfeed with baby parrot handfeeding formula, and I don't know if and to what the bird was weaned to.

If you just got this bird last night, where did you get him/her from and what were the previous owners feeding this bird?  How often were the previous owners feeding this bird?
