Cockatiel screaming

Hi,
We have two cockatiels one male one female.  The male is very vocal so much to the point that he will start the day around 7 with mating call (the cage is covered) and then for the rest of the day he will sit on top of his cage or fly wherever and chirp this irritating screech all day long.  It drives us bonkers so much that we sometimes leave the house or put him to bed extra early.  We have tried most things, etc - spending more time with him, putting him in and outside the house, different toys, treats etc the female does not say boo.  the screech sounds like he is bored and we thought maybe being in spring its a mating thing but this has been going for months.  Last year he started around mating season but this year he started at the start of the year and is continuing through the year.  We are unsure of the age, he seems to be an older bird, could be maybe 6 or 7 years.  Please help as we do not want to give him away but he is driving us insane.

Dear Julie, I have never had a Cockatiel that screams, maybe your Cockatiel does not like the female or maybee he wants lots more atention from you, or he just might be showing off for the female. I'm not really shore. Did you try asking the vet or a breeder? When did he start screaming?
