hi doc, im a vet in nairobi,kenya.i recently attended to a case where the patient was an african grey parrot.
it had difficult breathing with mucoid exudates on the nares, my diagnosis was pneumonia so i treated it with tylosin 30mg for 2 days.the bird was also anorexic and water was given via a syringe,the bird unforturnately died after 5 days.
what i want to know if there is anything else i could have done and was i to blame.

Did you determine the underlying cause (viral, bacterial, fungal)?

How long was the bird suffering symptoms before coming to you?

Was this bird on a predominantly seed mix diet?  

Age?

Chances are you were NOT to blame.  Most of the time when a bird presents with respiratory disease, it's something that has been going on for quite a bit longer than symptoms may have shown
