Parrot having cold

Question
I have an alexandria parakeet which is 3 yrs old. Its cage was in the backyard of our home earlier. Recently we shifted our home to a new place. Since there are no hoops at our new home, we have kept the cage in the kitchen. It is kinda hot there and the parakeet has caught a cold. It sneezes and its voice seems to have changed. Since there are no vets in our area, I'm confused about what to do..Please help!!

Answer
Well a vet is really what you need. Birds can NOT be treated with pet-store medication as this actually makes the problem worse. If a vet is totally out of the question, get a good vitamin supplement, a heated perch, and make sure he gets plenty of sunlight AND the right amount of dark, quiet time for sleeping. I hope everything works out well for him!
