I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS

with just male and a female in one cage no other parakeets in the cage will they mate how will i know when they mate what will i need and general care of the babies

They might be compatible with each other and they might not.  They have to pair-bond first before they will mate, lay eggs, and have babies.  Pair-bonding is when the male feeds the female beak-to-beak, they preen each other, etc., etc.  How old are your birds?

You may not know when they mate.  Mating only takes a couple of minutes and you could miss it if you aren't watching your birds all the time.  When/if your birds pair-bond and you want them to breed, you'll need to put up a nesting box.
