birds of a different species

Dear Jordam,

My Mom has an adorable 4 year old African Gray female named Mercedes.  Due to personal circumstances, I am considering getting my Mom a new baby bird.  I would like to know the options and concerns to address in introducing a new bird of a different species into the home.  Moreover, I would like to know which species that an African Gray would adapt well with together in the same cage dwelling.  I would very much appreciate your insight into this possibility.

Thanks for the question.
African greys and many other parrots dont mix well with other parrot species,but in seperate cages they could.
Could you tell me the circumstances of weather the birds would live in the same cage,or seperate ones?
