QuestionI have just purchased a Alexandrine Baby, it is 5 weeks old, and has started to grow small feathers, I have one question and a lot of advises.
Q. How can I be sure of the sex of the chick, without having it DNA sexed, i mean through physical appearance or behavior.
also please advice me, the caring of the bird, I am feeding it with gram soaked in water, crushed grapes, milk.
I have put it in a Shoe Box, filled with 6 layers of news paper shredding (i read your answer about home made brooder) everything you mentioned are being followed.
Thanking You.
Answer-- All of the birds I have and take in as rescues are genetically checked for disease and as a result, sex tested as well. I can't begin to suggest anything less prudent than that.
You are this bird's parent now - you MUST do the right thing.
--- As for feeding, NO MILK. No, no, no milk. Please go here to see the proper foods to feed:

You can do this and I want you to have a long, happy, healthy life together. Just like having a child, you must have regular doctor's visits for your bird.
Good luck and many blessings,
