hi this is my 2nd parakett -though it been a long time since i had one -i was 9 the last time -triple that now -anyway my unknown aged parakeet ive had her/him about a week has been sucessfully finger trained goes up and kinda steps down however she or he does not sem to be intrested in discovering the brave new world of out side her cage any ideas i spend at least 3 hrs a day in the same room i have broken down her /his training sessions to 3x a day  talk to him/her regularly so far i believe she /or he is mute hasnt said a twwet ok 2 chirps -do you think it is because the bird need to settle down a bit more or what? thank you for reading

thank you for your question.
The bird will need time to get used to his new surroundings. Do you have a sort of budgie tree or playground where he can sit outside the cage? This will make him a lot more interested in exploring, especially when you decorate the playground with  millet spray.
He's quiet because everythings new to him and because he's missing someone to talk to. Budgies are extremely social and need a friend. It's just not possible to spend that much time with the bird like it would need it - you have to go to school/work/shopping ect. With two birds, they won't get lonely and it's definitely possible to tame two birds. Your bird is already quite tame, so I really recommend getting a second one.
