Feather Chewing

Question
Hi Dustin,
We have (among other pets) a Medium sulphur crest cockatoo named Danny. Had him since he was a baby. He is now 11 years old. He has been chewing his chest feathers off and on for about a year and a half. We give him lots of attention, toys, varied diet, affection, everything. We think the behavior is associate with him wanting a mate. We can't afford another bird, and not necessarily will they like eachother anyway. How can we help alleviate his distress? ( He seems to like my husband and thinks he is a potential candidate, but that can get weird!) How can we help without getting too weird about it?!

Answer
hello,
there is a lot of products online for birds that pluck feathers. You can also try keeping him out of the cage all the time when you are home. Or try moving his toys around in his cage. Try these things and see if it helps. if you have any more ?s just ask.
